Personal Statement
Since I became the youngest presenter on BBC Radio Sheffield with my show 'Hello Friday' and now 'The Upload Show', my ambitions and objectives in life have only become bigger and I make sure I work hard to accomplish them. As well as presenting, I am also a mid-morning producer on BBC Radio Sheffield.
Since 2019, I have appeared on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1s Newsbeat, Heart Yorkshire, BBC Radio 5 Live, Power Radio and starred on shows other than my own on BBC Radio Sheffield, such as Toby's Breakfast Show and Paulette's Mid-morning show.
In June 2020, I began to branch out from just working in radio to working as a video journalist. I started up my own YouTube series in an effort to create a portfolio for all my interviews and you can find all my filmed interviews and write-ups via my website - inconversationwithcolton.wordpress.com My series "In Conversation with Colton" consists of interviews with unsigned new, local and exciting talent from up and down the UK.
I also present a virtual lockdown interviewing series for AnR Factory - a well respected music publication which aims to link industry professionals with new musical talent.
I am also a co-founder of The Gem Collective. A platform, founded in January 2021, where northern creatives from all genres and industries get together and share their work on our Instagram. In doing so they inevitably meet their new audience and network successfully. The reason we represent talent from the north predominantly at the current time is we feel they are greatly unrepresented in the UK wide creative industry.
I would describe myself as vibrant, passionate and enthusiastic in my personality. I am forever focused, aspirational and confident in my abilities as I set firm goals for myself and I take the imperative steps to achieve my milestones in whichever role I am in.
I live for soaking up life experience, in my opinion, you never stop learning, and that's a great thing. This mind-set is why I am now a journalism lecturer at The Sheffield College.
I believe my work experience demonstrates I will always aim to do my best in any task I am set. I am vocal and I’m not afraid to share my ideas in an environment which may seem socially intimidating! I believe my work ethic is professional and essential to becoming successful.
I also believe it's important to try and enjoy everything you do, which makes your colleagues mirror your enthusiasm when working in a team, which in turn should make sure everything is done to the best degree it can be.
I am willing to relocate to anywhere. I currently live in Sheffield.
