Why do I love living in Sheffield S8? Let me tell you. Our postcode area may not be huge, but it is filled with so many things to do. When I was younger, I used to love going to Graves Park, it was the must-go place in the summer! Being able to go and sit with your friends all day with a lovely view to accompany you as it didn’t go dark until 10pm.
They were the best days, I also used to love going to Beauchief Golf Course, but that was more for winter time, as when snow fell, it became S8’s biggest improvised sledging course, it still does now. However I was once a bit too daring and fell into someone at speed on that sledging course and now I have a lovely scar on my chin, so stay safe! I’ve always enjoyed walking in the beautiful woods we are blessed with here in S8, we have Chancet, Beauchief and Ecclesall and not only are they consistently picturesque but they are so relaxing to walk through. With the sun gleaming through the trees (when we are lucky) and the calming atmosphere when it’s more or less silent apart from the tranquil singing of the birds. I have always loved Sheffield for how beautiful it is, when the countryside is a stone throw away and we have amazing views, but I also appreciate the social scenes and local shops such as Budding Piccaso, Woodseats Palace, Costa Coffee, Heeley Retail Park, Woodseats Library, Marcos restaurant (a hidden gem!) and our many charity stores! I think the best part about living in S8 is how central we are to everything, the city centre is really close and we live 25 minutes away from the eighth biggest shopping centre in the UK - Meadowhall, or Meadowhell depending on how often you like to go there. S8 will always be somewhere close to my heart, of course, I grew up there, but I feel like it’s culture and vibe made me the person I am today.
