Working in retail for so long has made me realise that sometimes you have to be nice to people who aren't to you, but what happens when you argue so much with either friends or family that you start to realise maybe you're putting on how excited, happy or intrigued you really are by someone or what they're saying, how much do you really care?
Recently I've had a tricky home-life, not because I'm abused, neglected or bullied, but more because I sometimes don't get on with certain family members, to the point that we argue every day. It hurts me emotionally. Deeply. I haven't written this to whine or moan or grope sympathy, more to review and spread the fact that there nothing can't be fixed when it comes to family (with extreme exceptions of course). I'm not saying that I haven't ever had a good experience with my immediate family, but for the past five years it has been challenging at times, I love my family so much and that's why it effects me so bad. I'm not saying it's all me, or it's all them that starts or lights the argument, because it's not about that, its about who compromises and who cuts it short, as they realise that life is too short and the lost days of being mad with each other eventually add up. I feel as if I put so much more in than I give out and that is sometimes why I don't bother trying to help the situation and i just walk off or give up, or worst of all; carry on. At the end of the day I hope that everything works it's way through and I don't have to keep pretending that everything is fine, as we sit together for dinner and talk about how our day has been ignoring the blazing row the night before as if the memory of it all just evaporated into a big taboo-like cloud. Sometimes things take more time than expected, I hope this one sorts itself out much sooner.

Recently it came to my attention how drastically social media and the media themselves help to create constant uproar concerning what is and what isn’t acceptable to post online.
So here I’m referencing Kim Kardashian posting nude selfies online, and other ‘celebrities’ following her. Did she go too far? I’m all for celebrating body image and being confident in your own skin, but is it too much to reveal all for the world to see? The fact sales were boosted for a black bikini which looked identical to the black squares she censored her body with, proves she influences her followers. Personally I have mixed opinions on this subject, I think the fact she is famous for being overly sexualised and other things proves she able to post such revealing photos, however for the millions of followers she’s got, most of which are young girls conscious of their changing body image, does it really show her as a role model as many girls believe she is? With the continuous issues like online grooming etc, it doesn’t realistically send the right message out. Of course be confident with yourself and don’t fear your insecurities, but letting pictures out of yourself in that style can only have negative effects, because even if you had a body like Kim K, people like online trolls will always have something negative to say. Especially when in the real world, we aren’t all celebrities who can live off inheritance, we have to get jobs and make our own careers, and now employers have the right to look you up on social media. If they stumbled across something of that genre, forgive me for sounding irrational if I am being, but I’m sure they’d have second thoughts about you. However on the positive side, “if you’ve got it flaunt it!”…within reason. Are celebrities the biggest influence on the younger generation? If so should there be barriers on what they can or can’t expose? Get in touch and tell me what you think. Last year I was diagnosed with something called Coeliac Disease, it's an auto-immune disease which means I cannot eat things which include Gluten, Wheat, Barley, Rye and Oats in them. I know what you're thinking, won't people stop going on about being gluten-free?
Well actually for people like me who are offended more often than not by the comment "why are you on a weird diet?" we can't stop speaking about it until it is acknowledged as an illness and not a celebrity fad diet. Having to eat gluten free sounds so easy until you realise what gluten is in and how expensive gf food really is. Pasta, flour and therefore batter, cakes, biscuits, breakfast cereals, most types of bread, certain types of sauces, some types of ready meals, some crisps (chips), most beers, takeaways (pizza, Chinese, Indian) and food seasonings all have gluten in, and of course all this means that if food is cross-contaminated, meaning if you use the same oil, pan, spoon for food with gluten and then mix with my own, I'll get sick! Branded gluten-free food is reported to be 200% more expensive than normal food, is that an absolutely disgusting figure as we can't help having the disease? Sometimes (i don't mean to grumble) it can be such a pain to eat out in a restaurant where people don't understand about gluten-free, because people don't see it as that much of an issue and are unaware of the underlying health complications that can come with a Coeliac eating gluten. I recently ate out with my boyfriend and ordered a steak and chips (GF) and unfortunately i wasn't even that shocked to discover they had piled it high with onion rings (erm Batter!) i sent it back of course. So what are the underlying health complications then? Complications of coeliac disease only tend to affect people who continue to eat gluten or who have yet to be diagnosed with the condition, which can be a common problem in milder cases. Potential long-term complications include: Osteoporosis, B12 and Iron deficiency Anaemia, less common and more serious complications include those affecting pregnancy, such as having a low-birth weight baby, and some types of cancers, such as bowel cancer. What are the symptoms, how do i know if I've got it? Eating foods containing gluten can trigger a range of symptoms, such as: diarrhoea, bloating, abdominal pain, weight loss, feeling tired all the time as a result of malnutrition (not getting enough nutrients from food), children not growing at the expected rate. People would lose weight due to the fact that when Coeliacs eat gluten their villi in their small intestine swell up meaning we can't absorb vital nutrients in the food as our bodies reject it. Why haven't I heard about this before?! Coeliac disease is a common condition that affects approximately 1 in every 100 people in the UK. However, some experts think this may be an underestimate because milder cases may go un-diagnosed or be misdiagnosed as other digestive conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome. It has been reported that 80% of Coeliac suffers don't even know they have the disease! This may be due to the fact that 50% of people don't actually have the symptoms. Please if you have had any of the symptoms mentioned go and check with your GP, what's the harm in checking your health? Coeliac disease needs to be more widely reported for people to acknowledge it have restaurants and supermarkets do something about the tiny choice us Coeliacs are faced with when buying food! The newly split couple recently hit headlines when accusations of domestic abuse were put against Depp, to shine some light on the situation and confirm the accusations, Heard herself videoed Depp speaking in an aggressive tone towards her, in the video we see Depp finish the last glass of a bottle of red wine he had drank completely just a few hours into that morning. Heard explained that Depp has previously thrown a mobile phone at her and had put his hand to her face in a blazing row, Depp denied these allegations along with some of his exes publicly explaining how he would next act in this way, unfortunately with video evidence of aggression people found this hard to believe. However with all this recent commotion in her life, Heard has revealed she will be donating her £5.3 Million divorce settlement finance to two charities, one of which aimed to prevent violence against women. On announcing their divorce settlement on Tuesday earlier this week, Depp & Heard both explained their relationship was "intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love". I have to say this confused me personally as the way the media portrayed the separating couple was hardly one 'bound by love'. Especially when Heard herself took out a restraining order against Depp earlier this May when they first split, showing how she would rather he stay 100 yards from her at all times. This order was then pulled when the divorce settlement began. More updates later this week! Today me and my sister Holly (http://holly-jade.weebly.com/) went out into the woodland and countryside and took pictures to prove how gorgeous nature is, and how more often than not people are consumed more by gadgets than they are the picturesque world around them. Take a look at a few of the photos.
Stigma – It’s a word thrown round by the media.
Day in day out people are becoming more and more scared by what they are going to see on the news, in the papers and online, people become frightened by others stigmatising certain things or just truthfully reporting it when it needs to be. Unfortunately some things can’t be left unreported, such as the recent Orlando attacks, it absolutely stuns me that people are still attempting to report they don’t believe it was an LGBT attack – how could it not be? This man (to put it loosely) targeted homosexual people, because then not only is it seen as a terrorist attack (as this reported gun man was said to have connections with radicalised views of Islam) but it is then also seen as a homophobic attack. People like this enjoy the fact they get huge media out of their disgusting actions, taking someone’s/many people’s lives becomes something of a twisted release for them which sends us, the petrified public, a message that we aren’t safe from anything. These recent crimes and shootings that have been played out in the media aren’t just crimes concerning racism and homophobia, they are also crimes against humanity in general, to which we all react to. We take to Facebook, we take to twitter, we take to Instagram, to connote our condolences but also our fears, we suggest ways in which everyone could come together and help and how things could be different. When in reality, as long as the media and the power of stigmatisation exists, that can’t happen. By no means am I belittling any of the shocking things that have taken place recently, as of course I’m horrified by this myself and wish everyone could just be safe. However I do believe that if everyone, instead of adding fuel to the fire in that sense, of talking about how scared and shocked they were, maybe everyone could figure out a way to eventually put an end and defeat the people who fill our cities with terror. More like reporters gaining cheap thrills through exploding tiny celeb stories!
In music and entertainment news, here we are back at a usual story line of fake accusations being made concerning celebrities for the sake of a public reaction. Sia recently performed a concert in Israel, and for £70 a ticket the majority of her fans loved the performance. However a group of attendants decided they were going to file a lawsuit after the performance, and not against Sia herself but people involved in the singer's life and success due to the fact she only performed for 65 minutes. The lawsuit was supposedly for £1.6 million, however the case has either been dropped or backtracked as no-one has heard any further about the accusation. Instead her promoter has denied claims of Sia being sued and has explained that the majority of comments received after the performance were positive and contented. Sia will be performing later this week at the very well known festival 'V Fest' I hope the performance is more well received than the one in Israel! I personally love Sia and i am confused as to why people would file a lawsuit against one of the biggest innovators of music to have ever expressed her talent! |
